Dubai - Mubasher: Dubai's consumer price index (CPI) declined by 3.02% in 2020, compared to 2.98% in 2019, recording a decrease for the second year in a row.
Lower CPI is driven by a drop in the prices of the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels section by 6.21%, according to the latest data by the Dubai Statistics Centre.
Meanwhile, the prices of the transport, recreation and culture, and clothing and footwear sections slid by 6.71%, 10.27%, and 3.36%, respectively.
On the other hand, Dubai saw higher prices of food and beverages by 2.81%, education by 1.38%, and tobacco 13.78%.
The prices of the furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance as well as restaurants and hotels segments increased by 0.32% and 0.27%, respectively.
